Capitals seek fourth straight victory

WASHINGTON (Ticker) -- The Washington Capitals go for their fourth straight victory when they host the Ottawa Senators on Wednesday.

The Capitals, who have scored 16 goals in their winning streak, come off a wild 7-4 victory over the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday. Matt Pettinger led the Capitals with two goals while Ben Clymer, John Erskine, Richard Zednik, Bryan Muir and Alexander Ovechkin also scored for Washington.

Ovechkin was assessed a major penalty and a game misconduct when he checked Buffalo's Daniel Briere from behind into the boards early in the second period.

The Senators won their fourth straight with a 4-2 victory over the New York Islanders on Tuesday.

Dany Heatley scored twice to lead Ottawa while Jason Spezza and Joe Corvo scored the other Senators goals. Ottawa, which went 2-for-4 on the power play, received 24 saves from Martin Gerber.

Heatley has 18 goals this season after getting 16 in 27 games last season.
