Coyotes go for their third straight victory

DALLAS (Ticker) -- The Phoenix Coyotes started the season 3-9-0, but things have changed since then.

The Coyotes, who have been playing much better lately, go for their fourth straight triumph when they host the Dallas Stars on Wednesday.

Phoenix won its third straight game on Monday when they edged the Nashville Predators, 3-2. Patrick Fischer broke a 2-2 tie and scored the game-winner at 8:40 of the third period when he redirected Ladislav Nagy's pass past Nashville goaltender Chris Mason.

Oleg Saprykin and and Yanic Perreault scored the other Phoenix goals while Mikael Tellqvist made 19 saves.

The Stars look for their third straight win after a 1-0 triumph over the San Jose Sharks on Monday. Mike Modano scored the only goal of the game on the power play at 7:46 of the first period.

Marty Turco made 25 saves to record his 26th career shutout for the Stars, who went 1-for-2 on the power play while holding the Sharks scoreless in their four attempts.
