Final - 2OT
Wild set for meeting with slumping Kings
Feb 24, 2009 - 2:12 PM Los Angeles (25-24-9) at Minnesota (30-24-4) 8:00 p.m. ESTST. PAUL, Minnesota (Ticker) -- After shutting down two of the top offenses in the Western Conference, the Minnesota Wild should have little trouble against their next opponent.
The Wild go for their third straight win on Tuesday when they host the lowly Los Angeles Kings.
Following a decisive three-goal victory over the defending Stanley Cup champion Detroit Red Wings on Saturday, Minnesota edged the Chicago Blackhawks, 2-1, on Sunday.
The Red Wings are tops in the NHL with 222 goals while the Blackhawks rank third in the West with 192 tallies.
The Kings, meanwhile, have notched just 152 goals this season, sitting ahead of only the Wild and the Nashville Predators in the conference.
Los Angeles has recorded more than three goals only once in its last six games, logging a 1-3-2 record over that span.
The Kings endured their second straight loss on Saturday, dropping a 6-3 decision to the Phoenix Coyotes.
Alexander Frolov scored his 25th goal of the season in the first period and Dustin Brown notched his 23rd in the second for Los Angeles, which has allowed 20 goals over its last four games.
