Bruins continue homestand against Flyers

Mar 3, 2009 - 2:57 PM Philadelphia (33-18-10) at Boston (42-12-9), 7:00 p.m. EST

BOSTON (Ticker) -- The Boston Bruins are hoping to bounce back at home after a fluke goal cost them their last game. They could also be looking for revenge after a quirky goal also decided the Philadelphia Flyers' most recent visit to the TD Banknorth Garden.

Boston continues its six-game homestand against Philadelphia on Tuesday.

After winning the first two games on its stretch of home games, Boston lost to Washington, 4-3, in overtime Saturday. Alexander Semin blasted a slap shot from just inside the center line that squirted through All-Star goaltender Tim Thomas' pads just 22 seconds into the extra period.

Phil Kessel and Matt Hunwick each had a goal and an assist and All-Star Marc Savard set up three goals for the Bruins, who lost to the Flyers, 4-3, in overtime on February 7.

Defenseman Randy Jones scored the game-winner in that contest when he fired a shot - which was heading wide of the goal - that deflected off Bruins blue-liner Andrew Ference into the net.

Philadelphia will be looking for similar fortunes as it comes in on a two-game losing skid.

Martin Brodeur made 27 saves for his 100th career shutout as the New Jersey Devils blanked the Flyers, 3-0, on Sunday. It was the second time Philadelphia has been held scoreless this season.
