Oilers aim for third straight win in opener of three-game trip

DALLAS (Ticker) -- The Edmonton Oilers aim for their second straight win when they visit the Dallas Stars on Friday.

The Oilers, who open a three-game road trip, exacted a measure of revenge against the Carolina Hurricanes for last season's Stanley Cup Finals loss by downing the Hurricanes, 3-1, on Wednesday.

Brad Winchester, Jason Smith and Fernando Pisani scored for the Oilers while Jussi Markkanen made 28 saves.

The Stars, who close out a four-game homestand, have won their last three contests, including a 3-0 triumph over the Phoenix Coyotes on Wednesday. Marty Turco made 25 saves while Mike Ribeiro and Sergei Zubov each had a goal and an assist.

Turco has not allowed a goal in 143 minutes, 6 seconds.

Dallas, which played without star center Mike Modano, is 11-2-0 at home this season. Modano, who has 495 career goals, missed the game with a lower body injury.
