Flames can tie franchise record with ninth straight home win

Dec 9, 2006 - 5:56 PM Vancouver (14-14-1) at Calgary (13-10-3) 10:00 pm EST

CALGARY, Alberta (Ticker) - Miikka Kiprusoff and the Calgary Flames have become increasingly inhospitable at home.

Kiprusoff is expected to be in goal for the Flames, who attempt to tie the franchise record with their ninth consecutive home victory in Saturday's meeting with their division rivals, the Vancouver Canucks.

The reigning Vezina Trophy winner, Kiprusoff has three shutouts at home during the streak and is 10-3-0 with a 1.39 goals-against average at the Pengrowth Saddledome.

Calgary is looking to equal its longest run of home success set from February 21-March 14, 1991. The Flames have outscored their opponents, 27-6, during the streak.

Captain Jarome Iginla scored his 300th career goal and recorded his 600th point for Calgary in Thursday's 3-2 shootout loss to the Minnesota Wild.

Vancouver has won three of its last five games and had to scramble after failing to hold a three-goal lead in the third period before posting a 4-3 overtime triumph over the Carolina Hurricanes.

Daniel Sedin netted the game-winning goal on a power play with 1:58 left in overtime and Yannick Tremblay scored his first goal since November 11, 2003, in his first game with the Canucks.

Iginla netted his ninth goal of the season and Kristian Hueselius added his fourth late in the third as Calgary rallied from a two-goal deficit in a 3-2 win over Vancouver on November 11.
