Streaking Devils go for sixth straight victory

EAST RUTHERFORD, New Jersey (Ticker) -- Martin Brodeur and the New Jersey Devils have been looking like their old selves lately.

Brodeur and the Devils, who have only given up seven goals during their five-game win streak, look to shut down the high-powered Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday.

In a 2-0 victory over Philadelphia on Friday, Brodeur recorded his 84th career shutout - tying him with Glenn Hall for third place on the all-time list - and his 462nd career victory to pass Ed Belfour for second all-time.

Brodeur made 19 saves as the Devils pounded the Boston Bruins, 5-1, on Saturday for their fifth straight victory.

The stingy Devils and Brodeur will have a challenge against the Sabres, who are averaging a league-high 3.86 goals-per-game. Buffalo, whose 46 points is tops in the Eastern Conference, has slowed down a little in going 2-0-2 in its last four games.

The Sabres downed the Montreal Canadiens, 3-2, in a shootout on Saturday. Jiri Novotny and Derek Roy scored for Buffalo in regulation while Daniel Briere and Thomas Vanek tallied in the shootout.
