Rangers seek first road win vs. Stars in 10 years

DALLAS (Ticker) -- The New York Rangers appear primed to end a decade-long jinx.

Looking to widen their first-place lead in the Atlantic Division, the Rangers attempt to win their season-high fifth straight game Thursday when they meet the Dallas Stars.

However, the Rangers are winless in their last six visits here since December 30, 1996.

New York holds a two-point lead over the New Jersey Devils in the division race and is 4-1-1 in December.

Michael Nylander scored his 12th goal and Jarkko Immonen and Matt Cullen had a goal and an assist apiece for the Rangers in Tuesday's 3-1 triumph over Philadelphia.

Jaromir Jagr is the league's top scorer (44) and holds a two-point edge over Atlanta's Marian Hossa, who is tied with New York's Brendan Shanahan for most goals (22).

Although they are one of just four teams with at least 20 victories this season, the Stars have lost two of their last three home games and are averaging just two goals in their last nine outings.

Philippe Boucher scored his ninth goal for Dallas in Tuesday's 3-1 loss to Columbus.

Dallas center Mike Modano has missed his last four games with a lower-body injury and is not expected to play on Thursday. He leads the team in goals (10) and is second in points (20).
