- Cassie How about some 2000+ mile races, like nationwide races, eg. from Portland, ME to San Diego, CA, using mostly old U.S highways going through bypassed towns? It would blow up the economies in those towns, and also be very entertaining, from an average sports watcher going from flipping on the race for 5 minutes at a time, to entire hours, because the drivers would actually be going places, not just around the same boring oval over and over again. The towns would be plowing in the money from tourists eating at the restaurants, filling up their cars and trucks at the gas stations, and people checking in to the motel rooms. The city would then have enough money to give to IndyCar to their drivers, but I'm not sure it works that way.

Boston to Detroit: that's about 500 miles. L.A to Salt Lake City: 500 miles. Any major city to any other city within 500 miles: even little State College, PA to huge Greensboro, NC! It would boost the economy, it would make the cities a little more known, but there's oe and only one problem: road closures. Closing major interstates between major cities, like I-95 from Boston to New York. But other than that, great idea!
