Hornaday Jr. wins AAA Insurance 200

Jun 2, 2007 - 12:33 AM DOVER, Delaware (Ticker) - The 300th race for the Craftsman Truck Series finished with a familiar face in Victory Lane.

Ron Hornaday Jr. picked up his series-record 31st career victory Friday, taking the checkered flag in the AAA Insurance 200 at Dover International Speedway on Friday.

With an average speed of 107.463 miles per hour in his Chevrolet Silverado, Hornaday earned his second win of the season and moved within 77 points in the standings behind leader Mike Skinner.

Hornaday's first win of the season came two weeks ago in Charlotte.

Stacy Compton finished second in his Ford F-150. Travis Kvapil drove his his Ford to a third-place finish for his best result of the season. The Toyota Tundra of Johnny Benson took fourth, with Mike Bliss finishing fifth in his Dodge.

Defending race champion Mark Martin was sixth in a Ford. Skinner, who started from the pole in his Toyota, was seventh.

Kyle Busch had a solid run in his Chevrolet before suffering from handling and tire problems. He relinquished the lead to Hornaday on lap 137 and dropped to a 12th-place finish.

The race was filled with three cautions in the early stages. On the first lap, Skinner and Clint Bowyer's Chevrolet battled for the lead. They made contact and Bowyer hit the wall, causing an eight-truck accident on the backstretch.

The second caution came on lap 12 when T.J. Bell's Ford hit the wall on the front stretch. On lap 38, the Jason White brought out the yellow flag when lost control of his Chevrolet.
