Benson again wins Toyota Tundra Milwaukee 200

Jun 23, 2007 - 6:36 AM MILWAUKEE (Ticker) - It was a familiar finish for Johnny Benson.

Benson, who started in the fourth position, picked up his first victory of the season, taking the checkered flag in the Toyota Tundra Milwaukee 200 Friday for the second year in a row.

The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series points leader, Mike Skinner captured the pole for the seventh time in his last nine races and was the leader until Benson took over on lap 103 of the 200-lap race.

Benson recorded his ninth top-10 finish of the campaign in his Toyota Tundra., cruising to the win with a .949-second margin of victory.

Ron Hornaday Jr., who won three weeks ago at the AAA Insurance 200, finished in second in his Toyota. It was an important finish for Hornaday, who was able to close his deficit behind Skinner to 108 for the overall points lead.

Todd Bodine rode his Toyota to a third-place finish, while Skinner slid to fourth - also a Toyota.

The race was filled with four cautions - all before the midway point of the race - with the final one coming in the 82nd lap, when Bill Lester's Chevrolet stalled.

But the biggest moment of the race came in the 74th lap when Ted Musgrave and rookie Kelly Bires crashed in Turn 2. Musgrave was black-flagged and forced to pull his truck off the track.
