Leffler wins Busch Kroger 200

Jul 29, 2007 - 4:06 AM INDIANAPOLIS (Ticker) - Jason Leffler visited Victory Lane for the first time this year at O'Reilly Raceway Park on Saturday.

On fresh tires, Leffler charged past Greg Biffle in the final laps to win the Kroger 200 and give Toyota its first NASCAR Busch Series triumph.

It was Leffler's second career Busch Series victory and first since taking the checkered flag at Nashville in 2004.

Biffle, who jumped up two spots in the standings to 12th, finished second to record just his second top-five finish of the season.

"It was a really good night," Biffle said. "The car was really, really tough to drive. Probably the toughest car that I've ever driven at this racetrack, I don't know why. To be honest with you, I don't know why we did so well."

David Reutimann drove his Toyota Camry to a third-place finish for the second straight week and series point leader Carl Edwards finished fourth. Edwards maintained his commanding 852-point lead in the standings.

"That was a fun racetrack," Edwards said. "I wish we ran 500 laps around this place twice a month. This is about as good as it gets. Congratulations to Jason Leffler."

Ron Hornaday, who won Friday's NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race, rounded out the top five and pole-sitter Aric Almirola finished sixth.

After a caution, Leffler restarted in second with five laps to go and passed Biffle on the inside with just three remaining before cruising to to the checkered flag.

There were eight cautions spanning 36 laps, and 24 cars finished on the lead lap.
