Keselowski wins Food City 250
Aug 23, 2008 - 3:22 AM BRISTOL, Tennessee (Ticker) -- A late charge resulted in the second career victory for Brad Keselowski.After passing Clint Bowyer with 24 laps remaining, Keselowski held on Friday to capture the NASCAR Nationwide Series Food City 250 at Bristol Motor Speedway.
Currently in his second full season on the circuit, Keselowski started the race in the 37th position. But the 24-year-old moved his Chevrolet past the one of Bowyer on lap 226 when the current points leader got loose on Turn 2.
"We were dead equal, Clint and I," Keselowski said. "I needed to catch a break, and Clint gave it to us. ... Things just came to us. We just had to stay patient. We knew we were fast, we just had to be smart.
"I dreamed about this on Thursday. I told everyone I could get it done."
Keselowski, who finished 25th in points and third in the race for the Rookie of the Year last season, climbed within 122 points of Bowyer for the points lead this year.
"We know to win this championship, we have to win races," said Keselowski, who finished seventh here last season. "This is what we have to do every week - run up front and have a shot to win races."
Keselowski, who notched his first career win at Nashville on June 7, has finished 20th or worse only three times in 26 starts this season.
Bowyer, who led 121 of the race's 250 laps, finished second, while Greg Biffle was third in a Ford. The Chevys of pole-sitter Cale Gale and David Stremme rounded out the top five.
Brian Keselowski, Brad's brother, failed to qualify for the race.
