The club said the clean-out operation would give Hastings a chance to play in the Sea Eagles' season opener against Parramatta on March 23.
The 21-year-old played 15 NRL games last year.
He left the Roosters after three seasons, having fallen down the five-eighth pecking order behind new recruit Luke Keary and young gun Connor Watson.
