Hodkinson named Newcastle Knights captain
Feb 24, 2017 - 8:58 AM Newcastle Knights have confirmed Trent Hodkinson will captain the club in 2017.A State of Origin representative in 2014 and 2015, 28-year-old Hodkinson has played 139 first grade matches and made the most appearances for the Knights last season with 23.
"Trent continues to provide strong leadership on and off the field at our Club," Knights coach Nathan Brown said.
"We have a young squad and his experience at both club and representative level make him a good fit to be captain."
Off-season recruits Jamie Buhrer and Rory Kostjasyn will join Hodkinson, Dane Gagai, Sione Mata'utia and Peter Mata'utia in the Knights' leadership group.
The Knights are away at the Warriors in round one of the NRL on Sunday, March 5.
