Granville, Coote expecting to face Sharks
May 15, 2017 - 6:42 AM North Queensland hooker Jake Granville is confident he'll be fit for Thursday night's NRL clash with Cronulla despite limping off the field in his return from a broken leg.Granville had spent more than a month on the sidelines before his comeback against Canterbury last week but took a heavy hit to the same area where he fractured his fibula.
Scans have cleared him of any major damage but Cowboys medical staff will monitor him through the week, and Granville said he has not been able to run properly since.
"Obviously it hurt a lot because there's a lot of nerve endings and stuff in that new bone," he said.
"It was pretty ginger so I got the scan and that reassured me.
"I'll just have to see how it goes.
"I haven't run again since so I'll have to see how it pulls up after that.
"I'll have to take it a bit easier but I'll have to test it to give me that confidence if I am going to play."
Fullback Lachlan Coote also expects to face the Sharks after he too suffered a late injury scare against the Bulldogs.
Coote, who was returning from a calf injury, rolled his ankle and was taken off as a precaution but said he was in no doubt for the clash against the reigning premiers.
The presence of Coote and Granville clearly helped Michael Morgan, who had been shouldering the playmaking load largely on his own and took the Bulldogs game by the scruff of the neck with a masterful display of kicking.
"It looked like our structure was a bit better," Coote said.
"Obviously Morgo had an outstanding game and he stepped up to the plate, he got us through the match.
"With Jake and I being back it probably did help things with Morgo having a bit of security and direction."
