Hiku leaves Panthers for Super League
Jun 19, 2017 - 12:54 AM Penrith have confirmed Peta Hiku will be heading to the Super League after releasing the outside back from his contract. The 24-year-old has been linked to the Warrington Wolves but the Panthers only confirmed Hiku had been released on Monday.
"Unfortunately with the emergence of several of our young players and the way our team has developed, we can't fit everyone in the team each week," Panthers executive general manager Phil Gould said in a statement.
"From a salary cap perspective we always knew someone would probably have to move on.
"Peta received a great offer from a strong club in the UK and it presents a wonderful opportunity for Peta and his young family."
Hiku made 20 appearances for the Panthers since 2016 after moving from Manly, with his stint at Penrith interrupted by a season-ending knee injury in round 11 last year.
