Winning is different for me, says Moses

Jun 30, 2017 - 2:52 AM Now that he's got that winning feeling, Mitchell Moses wants that finals feeling.

Moses nailed the golden point field goal in Parramatta's win over Canterbury on Thursday, giving him four wins in six NRL matches for just the second time in his five-year career.

Moses admitted he couldn't recall winning so many games in such a short period of time.

"I can't remember. The most I've won is three games straight. It's definitely different for me. I'm just happy getting that winning feeling around the club," Moses said.

But even more importantly, the former Wests Tigers star now has opportunity to help end the Eels' eight-year finals drought - the longest of any club in the competition.

Friday's win ensures the Eels will hold eighth spot for at least another week, inching them closer to their first finals appearance since 2009.

However the Eels junior refused to get caught up in the hype.

"It's pretty exciting times but we've got to take it week by week at the moment and the semis will sort itself out if we keep winning games," he said.

The 22-year-old turned in easily his best performance in his six games in Eels colours, playing a hand in two tries before delivering in the clutch play.

But it was his defensive improvement - he missed just two tackles for the match - that earned high praise from coach Brad Arthur after the match.

Moses credited defensive coach Brett O'Farrell and independent mind coach Joe Wehbe for helping him settle into his new club following his protracted exit from Concord.

"I've been working pretty close with our tackle tech coach 'Bump' (O'Farrell). He's been massive for me, always gets me in before training to do a few extra tackles," he said.

"It was just about me getting more comfortable week by week, new defensive structures, getting used to what Parra do and I'm definitely feeling more comfortable now.

"Brad's been a massive part. He's really narrowed down my game and made me feel easier.

"I also do a lot of work with Joe Wehbe on the side and he's massive for me. I spoke to him before the game. He got me back to feeling like I was a little kid again and not over thinking.

"I put a lot of credit to him. He's definitely changed my career around."
