Panther Latu ruled out for NRL season
Jul 28, 2017 - 3:45 AM Penrith forward Leilani Latu will miss the rest of the NRL season after scans confirmed he broke his jaw in Thursday's win over Canterbury. The 24-year-old Latu was hospitalised after sustaining the injury in the second-half of the 16-8 win at Pepper Stadium.
He will be sidelined for 10 weeks, missing the last six regular-season matches and finals should the ninth-placed Panthers finish inside the top-eight.
Latu has contributed an average 34 minutes in 19 games off the bench this season.
He joins Trent Merrin on the sidelines, with the star lock not expected to return until later rounds due to a knee injury.
Panthers coach Anthony Griffin expressed confidence on Thursday fullback Matt Moylan and centre Dean Whare would be back for next week's match against Wests Tigers.
