Croker set for more Raiders NRL records
Aug 10, 2017 - 6:37 AM Canberra NRL skipper Jarrod Croker has declared he wants to be a Raider for life and is certain to break more club records.The Goulburn-born goalkicking centre has extended his contract until the end of 2020.
With 105 tries for Canberra, the 26-year-old is poised to pass distant relative Jason Croker's record of 120.
Jarrod is already the Raiders' leading pointscorer with 1568 and has topped the NRL season charts in 2012, 2015 and 2016.
Hazem El Mazri's premiership record of 2418 isn't out of the question if he plays into his mid-30s.
Jason Croker's club record 318 matches for the Raiders also looks shaky, with Jarrod notching 209 appearances over nine seasons.
His durability has been remarkable, missing just nine games since his 2009 debut.
Coach Ricky Stuart said if Croker could break more records, it would signal Raiders success.
"He scores tries that sometimes you think 'how did he score that?'," Stuart said.
"He keeps us in so many football games through his goalkicking ability."
Excluding finals, if Croker plays every game until the end of his new contract, he will go past the 280 mark before his 30th birthday.
"That's a goal of mine and that's what I want to do," Croker said of becoming a one-club player.
"I'll only be 29, coming off contract at the end of this one, so there's still a fair bit of time left after that as well."
JARROD CROKER:
* 209 games
* 105 tries
* 1568 points
* Debut - round two, 2009 v Sydney Roosters
