Revenge on Broncos would be silly: Arthur
Aug 22, 2017 - 11:05 PM Parramatta coach Brad Arthur has warned his side about crossing the line in what's shaping as an explosive NRL clash with Brisbane on Thursday. After watching Broncos forward Josh McGuire stand on Tim Mannah's ankle five weeks ago, Eels star Michael Jennings set the scene for a spicy rematch when he labelled the act a "dirty" play.
Parramatta won the game at ANZ Stadium in a fiery contest that also saw Eels back-rower Kenny Edwards put an ugly shot on Brisbane winger Jonus Pearson who was dazed and on his back after a high tackle from Nathan Brown.
Arthur insists his team aren't seeking retribution at Suncorp Stadium.
"I think both teams are professional enough to know that any ill-discipline could cost them," Arthur said before his team departed for Brisbane on Wednesday.
"I'm sure both teams are going to come out and have a red-hot crack and go at each other pretty hard. I've got no concerns about players being ill-disciplined, because it's silly."
Instead, Arthur is keen to see how his team responds to what is likely to be the biggest crowd they have played in front of this season.
Four of the past five Broncos' home games have drawn in excess of 30,000 fans.
"I think the players get themselves up for the big games, and it's a big game. They get excited and it's a good arena to challenge themselves," he said.
"I'm sure it's going to be a packed house. A lot of our players haven't played in that sort of atmosphere before. There's quite a bit of excitement about it."
Eels pair Beau Scott (bicep) and Kaysa Pritchard (knee) are unlikely to play despite being named in an extended squad on Tuesday.
Both players were initially ruled out for the season back in June, however Scott's return would be huge given his team-high six finals campaigns in his career.
"They're close but I don't think they'll play. Hopefully next week," Arthur said.
"That was what we were told, that (Scott) was a rough chance for the finals. He's worked really hard and it's still 50-50 at the moment.
"But all the indications from how he's trained is he should be very close for next week."
