Fitzpatrick adds depth to Waratahs pack
Oct 5, 2016 - 1:08 AM Hooker Damien Fitzpatrick will return to the NSW Waratahs after spending three years in French rugby.Fitzpatrick, 27, has signed a two-year deal with the Super Rugby franchise in a move coach Daryl Gibson expects to increase competition for the Waratahs' hooking spot.
Gibson said Fitzpatrick's form for the Sydney Rays in the National Rugby Competition was enough to earn him a Waratahs' contract.
"Damien returns from France a much improved player," Gibson said.
"He offers leadership potential and I'm sure he can really add to the team."
Fitzpatrick has earned 22 caps for NSW after making his debut in 2009.
Two second division titles with Lyon before their elevation to the Top 14 were a highlight of Fitzpatrick's French experience.
