Allsopp scores twice, United beats Wizards 2-1

May 6, 2010 - 1:30 AM WASHINGTON(AP) -- Danny Allsopp scored twice in the first half to help D.C. United win for the first time this season, 2-1 over the Kansas City Wizards on Wednesday night.

Allsopp, acquired as a free agent during the offseason, became the first Australian to score in MLS history.

Kei Kamara scored in second-half stoppage time for the Wizards (2-3-1).

Allsopp put United (1-5-0) ahead in the 12th minute, taking Rodney Wallace's long ball and driving a deflected shot past diving goalkeeper Jimmy Nielsen. Allsopp made it 2-0 in the 34th minute when Adam Cristman set up a breakaway.

D.C.'s Bill Hamid made five saves in his MLS debut after starting in place of the healthy Troy Perkins.

Kansas City has a four-game winless streak.
