Hill's brace brings an end to Chivas' road winning streak
Apr 29, 2012 - 3:31 AM Commerce City, CO (Sports Network) - Chivas USA's road success came to a crashing halt on Saturday at Dick's Sporting Goods Park as the Goats were handed a heavy 4-0 defeat by the Colorado Rapids.Chivas entered the match having won its first three games away from home, while the Rapids were aiming to put an end to a three-match losing streak.
The first half saw few clear-cut chances with the best coming on the half-hour mark when Colorado goalkeeper Matt Pickens made a diving save to keep out a volley from Laurent Courtois before stopping Juan Pablo Angel's rebound attempt.
But things opened up in the final 40 minutes and the host pumped in four goals, with the first coming in the 50th minute.
Tony Cascio arrived at the back post and took a corner kick down off his chest before firing a shot through traffic and inside the far post.
Courtois hit the crossbar five minutes later and Nick LaBrocca went close in the next 10 minutes as Chivas attempted to equalize.
But with the Goats still pressing for the tying goal, they were punished in the 82nd minute when Omar Cummings set up Kamani Hill for the first of two goals for the substitute.
Jeff Larentowicz then stretched the lead to 3-0 when he was brought down inside the penalty area and dusted himself off to convert the subsequent spot kick.
Hill added another goal for good measure in stoppage time to cap a dominant second half for the Rapids.
