Vancouver routs Chivas at BC Place

Oct 4, 2012 - 4:04 AM Vancouver, BC (Sports Network) - Vancouver Whitecaps FC inched closer to a playoff berth in resounding fashion on Wednesday, thrashing Chivas USA 4-0 at BC Place.

The 'Caps (11-12-9) move five points clear of FC Dallas with just two games to go, through the Frisco club holds a game in hand.

Chivas (7-17-7) remains bottom of the Western Conference on 28 points as its winless run extends to 10 games. The Goats have not scored a goal in league play since September 8.

Vancouver scored twice on either side of halftime to cruise to a comfortable victory.

The opener came just 11 minutes in when Gershon Koffie fired a one-time effort past Dan Kennedy from top of the box.

The lead was doubled in the 35th minute when Dane Richards capped a speedy run down the right side with a shot just inside the far post.

Camilo made it three for the 'Caps when he tucked home a low cross from Richards in the 62nd minute.

Barry Robson capped the rout 11 minutes later as he collected a cross from Camilo and lashed a shot past Kennedy and into the upper corner.
