Bonfigli nets first MLS goal as RSL claims draw at FCD

Apr 26, 2012 - 2:41 AM Frisco, TX (Sports Network) - Emiliano Bonfigli picked a good time to score his first Major League Soccer goal for Real Salt Lake on Wednesday as the rookie came off the bench to net the equalizer in a 1-1 draw at FC Dallas.

Brek Shea converted a penalty kick just before halftime to put the Hoops in front, but Bonfigli scored in the 72nd minute to level the contest only three minutes after entering the game.

Dallas had the better of the play in the first half and had a goal ruled out for an offside decision before a spell of pressure toward the end of the first half paid off.

RSL's Tony Beltran was called for a handball inside his own penalty area, allowing Shea to step to the spot and send goalkeeper Nick Rimando the wrong way.

The second half saw Salt Lake begin much better and Paulo Jr. tested Dallas goalkeeper Chris Seitz on the hour mark before narrowly shooting wide from a tight angle five minutes later.

Bonfigli entered the match in the 69th minute for Paulo Jr. and needed less than three minutes to even things at 1-1 as he tracked down Will Johnson's through ball and slotted his shot past Seitz.

Dallas was on the back foot at this point and needed Seitz to produce a fine stop on Alvaro Saborio in the final 15 minutes to preserve a point.
