Magee lifts Los Angeles over FC Dallas

Jul 29, 2012 - 2:32 AM Frisco, TX (Sports Network) - The Los Angeles Galaxy won again Saturday night, this time without David Beckham and Landon Donovan.

Mike Magee scored in the 62nd minute as Los Angeles won for the fourth time in its last five games, 1-0, over FC Dallas in front of 22,565 fans at FC Dallas Stadium.

Los Angeles (10-10-3) defeated the Chicago Fire, Portland Timbers, Chivas USA, and Dallas, and tied Vancouver Whitecaps FC in its last five games. The match against Chivas, which also plays its home games at The Home Depot Center, was its only home match.

Dallas (5-11-7) failed to build on a 5-0 win over Portland last weekend, as it lost for the second time in its last three matches.

Beckham was absent due to his role in the Olympics, and Donovan was out due to accumulated yellow cards. But L.A. picked up its 10th win, as it continues to become more of a factor in the Western Conference.

Magee made the difference against Dallas, as he took a pass from Robbie Keane, set up a left-footed shot and converted to the lower-left corner from 22 yards for his fourth goal this season.

With 2011 MLS Defender of the Year Omar Gonzalez, who tore his ACL in January, making his second start of the season, L.A. posted its fourth shutout.

Both squads return to MLS action Aug. 5, with L.A. at Seattle Sounders FC, and Dallas at Portland.
