Seattle remained in front until the 78th minute when a corner kick delivery from Jack Jewsbury was nodded home by Wallace for his first goal of the season.
The Timbers came within inches of stealing all three points when Bright Dike struck the post in stoppage time, but the Sounders defense was relieved to see the ball bounce back into play.
