RSL, Vancouver play to scoreless draw at Rio Tinto
Oct 28, 2012 - 3:05 AM Sandy, UT (Sports Network) - There was little at stake for Real Salt Lake and Vancouver Whitecaps FC ahead of their match at Rio Tinto Stadium on Saturday, and that was reflected in the score as the two sides played to a 0-0 draw. Both sides came into the match already knowing their opponents for the postseason, so neither side had anything of merit to gain from a positive result.
Scoring chances were at a premium throughout the match as Salt Lake managed just three shots on goal to Vancouver's one, but the biggest positive was that both sides came away from the tussle with no major injuries.
Real Salt Lake will face Seattle Sounders FC in a two-legged postseason affair.
Vancouver will head to The Home Depot Center for a one-off match against the fourth-place Los Angeles Galaxy on Thursday, the winner of which will take on the San Jose Earthquakes.
