FCD continues home mastery over RSL

Mar 24, 2013 - 2:32 AM Frisco, TX (Sports Network) - FC Dallas collected its third win in four games to begin the new campaign on Saturday as the club secured a 2-0 home win against Real Salt Lake with second-half goals from Fabian Castillo and Jackson.

Salt Lake has now earned only one point from its last three games, and the loss extends the club's winless streak in Dallas to 11 matches.

The home side generated the better chances in the first half but David Ferreira missed the net from six yards after being set up by Castillo before Kenny Cooper's goal-bound shot was deflected over the net by Salt Lake defender Nat Borchers.

However, Castillo finally broke down the RSL defense and put his team in front with 20 minutes to play as he got down the left wing and into the penalty area before holding off a defender and smashing a shot into the roof of the net past goalkeeper Josh Saunders.

Dallas had to survive a scary sequence in the last 15 minutes when goalkeeper Chris Seitz made a nice stop on Robbie Findley, while defender Matt Hedges saved a goal by blocking Devon Sandoval's rebound attempt.

The ensuing corner kick also went close as substitute Olmes Garcia headed the ball off the near post.

But Dallas put the match away a few minutes later after a big mistake from Saunders, who poorly handled a back pass that allowed Jackson to swoop in and deflect the ball into the net.

Salt Lake's night got worse in the 83rd minute when Yordany Alvarez picked up a second yellow card, leaving the visitors with no way back.
