TFC, FC Dallas play to draw at BMO
Apr 6, 2013 - 10:15 PM Toronto, ON (Sports Network) - Toronto FC scored twice in the final five minutes of regulation to rescue a point in a 2-2 draw with FC Dallas on Saturday at BMO Field. After dropping a 2-1 result to the Montreal Impact on March 16, Toronto secured its second consecutive draw in improbable fashion as Justin Braun and Darel Russell both scored in the final five minutes to stun a while-hot FC Dallas side.
The visitors were in control early and had their first great chance of the game 11 minutes in when Zach Loyd whipped a cross into the path of Jackson, but his header landed wide of the near post.
FC Dallas broke through in the 34th minute when Michel ripped a free kick into the Toronto box and it fell to the feet of Andrew Jacobson, who pounded it into the top left corner for the 1-0 advantage.
The traveling side made it 2-0 in the 59th minute after Jackson claimed a loose ball in the midfield and lofted a through ball to the feet of Blas Perez, who first-timed it home for the seemingly comfortable 2-0 lead.
Toronto got back into the match five minutes from time when Braun nodded it home off a corner kick, and the equalizer came in the 90th minute as Russell smashed a right-footed rocket into the top left corner, leaving FC Dallas goalkeeper Raul Fernandez with no chance for a save.
The result snaps a three-game winning streak for FC Dallas, which remains on 12 points, while Toronto improves to five points from five matches.
