Chicago piles more misery on Montreal
Aug 11, 2013 - 2:49 AM Bridgeview, IL (Sports Network) - The Chicago Fire piled more misery on the Montreal Impact on Saturday by defeating the Canadian club, 2-1, at Toyota Park.Joel Lindpere put the home side in front when his deflected shot in the sixth minute made its way past Troy Perkins.
Dilly Duka doubled Chicago's advantage 17 minutes later as he darted through the Impact defense before slotting a shot just inside the post.
It proved to be a pivotal strike as Felipe Martins smashed a lethal left- footed strike past Sean Johnson in the 57th minute to cut Montreal's deficit in half, but the Impact could not find an equalizer down the stretch.
Montreal has claimed just one win from its last eight league contests, dropping the club to fourth place in the East on 35 points.
Chicago, unbeaten in four regular season matches, improves to 31 points to inch closer to a playoff position.
