Kamara lifts SKC to first place

Aug 11, 2013 - 2:41 AM Kansas City, KS (Sports Network) - Kei Kamara lifted Sporting Kansas City to the top of the Eastern Conference table on Saturday, scoring two goals in the club's 3-0 defeat of the New England Revolution at Sporting Park.

The opening goal came in the 27th minute when Kamara nodded home a cross from Soony Saad.

The two players connected once more to double Sporting's lead as Kamara headed another Saad cross past Bobby Shuttleworth in the 50th minute.

Benny Feilhaber added insult to injury for the Revs in second-half stoppage time, curling home a superb free kick to put the result on ice.

Sporting improves to 39 points on the season, moving one point clear of Red Bull New York following its loss to the Columbus Crew on Saturday.

New England drops its second consecutive match, leaving the club in seventh place in the East on 30 points.
