Montreal holds off Crew for first road win

Jun 7, 2015 - 1:36 AM Columbus, OH (SportsNetwork.com) - Second-half goals from Maxim Tissot and Andres Romero helped the Montreal Impact to a 2-1 win over Columbus Crew SC at MAPFRE Stadium on Saturday, handing the Impact their first away win of the season.

Montreal had collected just one point from its four games away from Saputo Stadium this season, and after goals from Tissot and Romero, Federico Higuain pulled one back in stoppage time for the hosts, who saw their winless streak extended to five games.

Ignacio Piatti had the first good chance in the 38th minute for the Impact, but Crew SC goalkeeper Steve Clark came to the rescue to deny him.

Impact netminder Evan Bush was also called upon late in the first half and he did well to make a save from a Waylon Francis header at the back post.

Tissot took advantage of a defensive error by the Columbus defense to put his team in front in the 55th minute, while Clark made a nice stop on Piatti's near-post effort.

Kei Kamara sent a header just past the post for the hosts and they chased an equalizer, but Piatti set up Romero on the counter attack to double Montreal's lead with 11 minutes to play.

Kamara struck the post in the 90th minute before Higuain's goal, but it was only a consolation as the Impact held on to claim their fourth win in five games.
