CARSON, Calif. (STATS) - For Real Salt Lake, an opponent with a 10-game unbeaten streak proved to be no problem.

Yura Movsisyan and Nat Borchers scored to lead Real Salt Lake to a 2-0 victory over the Los Angeles Galaxy on Saturday night.

Goalkeeper Nick Rimando made five saves for his third shutout as Real Salt Lake (4-6-3) posted its first road victory and stopped a seven-game winless streak.

"It's immeasurable," Real Salt Lake coach Jason Kreis said of the win. "There's been a lot of disappointment around our team for way too long. Tonight, it all came together for us finally, after so long.

"I think it's a sign that perhaps we're back I told the guys in the locker room, 'Welcome back.'"

For Movsisyan, breaking the winless streak was a week in coming.

"Everything started for us last week," Movsisyan said of a 1-all draw with Colorado on June 6. "Guys started playing with a lot of urgency. Guys started believing in each other.

"A lot of people outside this locker room don't believe in us. But you know what? We believe in ourselves. If we believe we can do it, nobody can stop us."

The Galaxy (2-2-9) experienced their first loss since a 3-2 defeat to Colorado on April 4. Los Angeles, which had eight draws during its unbeaten stretch, played without Landon Donovan, who joined the United States' national team for World Cup qualifying and the FIFA Confederations Cup in South Africa.

"I think we were outplayed," said Galaxy coach Bruce Arena, who complimented Movsisyan and his midfield teammates, Javier Morales and Kyle Beckerman.

"Movsisyan, Morales and Beckerman dominated us," Arena said. "We lacked discipline."

Movsisyan scored his second goal in as many games in the 13th minute. He took a pass from Clint Mathis, faked defender Gregg Berhalter to the right and took a 9-yard shot that ricocheted off goalkeeper Donovan Ricketts' palms.

"As a team, we're playing confident," Movsisyan said. "As a team, we're playing good soccer.

Borchers made it 2-0 in the 51st minute. Mathis' pass off Morales' corner kick deflected off Galaxy midfielder Eddie Lewis to Borchers, who converted from seven yards.

Borchers' goal was his first since 2004, when he played for the Colorado Rapids.

Rimando made three saves in the first 15 minutes to keep the Galaxy scoreless. He punched away Omar Gonzalez's 6-yard header with both fists in the seventh minute. Then in the 15th minute, Rimando deflected Dema Kovalenko's 18-yard shot before blocking Lewis' attempt to convert the rebound.

Real Salt Lake defender Jamison Olave headed Lewis' 14-yard header off the goal line in the 58th minute.

The Galaxy played with 10 men after Lewis received a red card in the 65th minute.

"The red card made it virtually impossible for us to get back in the game," Arena said.
