Rapids snap 11-year skid at RFK

May 16, 2010 - 1:39 AM WASHINGTON(AP) -- Mehdi Ballouchy scored in the 67th minute and the Colorado Rapids beat D.C. United at RFK Stadium for the first time in 11 years, 1-0 on Saturday night.

Ballouchy hooked a shot with his left foot between the Juan Manuel Pena's legs from about 10 yards. The ball dribbled across the goal line on the near side before United goalkeeper Bill Hamid could make a play for it.

Colorado (4-3-1), which snapped a two-game losing streak, hadn't won RFK Stadium in MLS play since July 10, 1999, going 0-7-4 since then.

The loss piled on to a dismal season so far for United (1-7-0), off to the worst start in franchise history through eight matches. The inaugural team held the previous record for futility, going 2-6-0 in 1996.

Colorado's Matt Pickens made three saves for his second shutout of the season.
