Real Salt Lake, DC United play to 0-0 draw

Jun 6, 2010 - 2:20 AM WASHINGTON(AP) -- D.C. United held Real Salt Lake to one shot on goal and snapped its club-record five-game winning streak with a scoreless draw Saturday night.

Real Salt Lake (6-3-2) managed just one shot on goal and became the first team to be shut out by United, which has allowed a league-worst 20 goals.

United (2-8-1) extended its unbeaten streak to four games, including two in MLS play.

United controlled much of the game and got two prime chances from Stephen King early in the second half. His first shot went wide after a steal from Jamison Olave just inside the box. Five minutes later, he gathered a ball from Andy Najer, but his shot bounced off the side of the net.

Real Salt Lake had its best opportunity in the 66th minute, when Alvaro Saborio's header missed off a corner.

United survived a 3-minute stretch in the first half a man down without Clyde Simms, who was kicked in the leg while defending Saborio. Simms eventually left with a bone bruise.

Jamie Moreno, who was scratched from United's lineup, spent the match chanting and beating a drum with the La Barra Brava supporters' group.
