Henry leads New York to 4-0 win over D.C. United

Apr 22, 2011 - 2:19 AM Washington, D.C. (Sports Network) - Thierry Henry scored two goals as Red Bull New York rolled to a 4-0 win over D.C. United on Thursday night at RFK Stadium in Major League Soccer.

Henry scored in the 12th and 38th minutes, notching his second and third goals of the season and fourth and fifth in his MLS career. Henry set up New York's third goal by Joel Lindpere, and Juan Agudelo capped the scoring.

New York (3-1-2) won for the first time on the road this season - it failed to score in its first two away games - and moved into first place in the Eastern Conference.

D.C. United (2-3-1) was shutout for the first time this year, although Branko Boskovic hit the frame twice in the second half, and lost at RFK for the first time this season.

Henry scored the opener when he deposited a cross from Jan Gunnar Solli with a header inside the left post from 10 yards. Henry added his second goal after a pass from Solli as well, this time scoring through traffic from eight yards.

Lindpere latched onto a long pass down the left from Henry, drove into the box and cut back to the middle to lose a defender to score his first of the season in the 76th.

Agudelo, who came off the bench in the second half, capped the impressive win with the goal of the match. Solli played in another ball from the right side, and Agudelo lifted the ball to himself and fired a side volley into the net in stoppage time.

Coundoul made a few solid saves in the second half, including one on Boskovic, and was saved by the post twice as he posted his second shutout of the season and New York's fourth in just six games.

D.C. visits the Houston Dynamo on April 29, and New York hosts Sporting Kansas City on April 30.
