Colombia goalkeeper fails drug test at WWC
Jun 28, 2011 - 4:02 PM Leverkusen, Germany (Sports Network) - Colombia goalkeeper Yineth Varon failed a drug test at the Women's World Cup and was provisionally suspended by FIFA on Tuesday.Varon failed "an out-of-competition doping control conducted in Leverkusen" on Saturday, one day before the tournament started. Her suspension rules her out of the World Cup, although FIFA stated Varon has the "right to ask for her 'B' sample to be analyzed."
Colombia lost its first-ever World Cup match, 1-0, to Sweden on Tuesday.
