Gaven shines as Crew rally to down Fire
Oct 8, 2006 - 5:22 AM BRIDGEVIEW, Illinois (Ticker) -- Eddie Gaven and Jason Garey each scored a goal and added an assist as the Columbus Crew defeated the Chicago Fire, 4-1.After Chris Rolfe gave the Fire a 1-0 lead early in the first half, Gaven scored off a pass from Garey in the 26th minute to tie the game, 1-1.
Garey gave the Crew a 2-1 lead 22 minutes later and Ricardo Virtuoso tallied at the 76-minute mark to make it 3-1. Joseph Ngwenya struck 12 minutes later to cap the scoring.
The Crew improved their record to 8-14-9, while the Fire dropped to 12-11-8.
