Camargo nets late to see Dynamo, Revs split the points
May 20, 2012 - 1:41 AM Foxborough, MA (Sports Network) - Luiz Camargo scored three minutes from time to help the Houston Dynamo salvage a point in a 2-2 draw with the New England Revolution at Gillette Stadium on Saturday.Saer Sene led the way for the Revs with a two-goal performance while Houston stayed within touching distance thanks to Will Bruin's first-half header. New England looked destined to collect three points for the second straight outing but Camargo's heroics rescued a point for the visiting Dynamo.
Both sides improve to 13 points on the season as New England (4-6-1) brings its home record to 3-1-1 this year and Houston (3-3-4) extends its unbeaten run to three games.
The Revs went in front in the 26th minute when Brad Davis barged into Sene from behind. Referee Baldomero Toledo pointed to the spot and Sene converted the ensuing kick.
Houston was able to draw level when Davis delivered a pinpoint free kick into the box in the 32nd minute. Matt Reis came off his line to punch the cross to safety, but his whiff allowed Bruin to nod the equalizer into an empty net.
The two sides remained deadlocked at a goal apiece until Sene dispossessed the Houston defense at midfield and went the distance to power a shot past Tally Hall at the near post.
But Houston ultimately leveled the score as Camargo collected a delivery from Brian Ching at the back post and fired a shot past Reis from close range for his first goal of the season.
The Revolution return to action next Saturday with a trip to RFK Stadium to face D.C. United while the Dynamo head home to BBVA Compass Stadium to face the Los Angeles Galaxy on May 26.
