Espindola brace helps RSL steal win at L.A.

Oct 7, 2012 - 3:18 AM Carson, CA (Sports Network) - Real Salt Lake moved five points clear of the Los Angeles Galaxy in the race to finish second in the Western Conference, earning a 2-1 victory at The Home Depot Center on Saturday.

Jason Kreis' side (17-11-4) surrendered an early lead but battled back, getting a brace from Fabian Espindola to improve to 55 points on the season.

The match exploded with three goals coming in the span of 11 minutes.

Los Angeles was first to get on the board as Juninho's long cross to the back post was hammered home on a volley from Robbie Keane.

Real Salt Lake went in front thanks to Espindola's strikes in the 25th and 28th minutes.

The Argentine equalized for the Claret and Cobalt by latching on to a through ball from Alvaro Saborio and slipping a shot past Josh Saunders. The go-ahead goal came shortly after as Espindola nodded home a cross from Javier Morales.

The Galaxy pushed for an equalizer in the second half, but a stout defensive effort from Salt Lake ensured all three points and doomed Los Angeles (15-12-5) to its first loss since August 5.
