Red Bulls double up on United

Apr 14, 2013 - 1:03 AM Washington, D.C. (Sports Network) - First-half goals from Thierry Henry and Jamison Olave propelled Red Bull New York to a 2-0 victory over D.C. United at RFK Stadium on Saturday.

After starting the season on a four-match winless streak, New York has won back-to-back games, while United is headed in the opposite direction having lost three straight.

Henry netted his second goal of the campaign just before the half-hour mark when he collected a pass from Dax McCarty and found room at the edge of the area to curl a shot inside the right post, although goalkeeper Bill Hamid should have done better.

Hamid kept out a close-range header from Tim Cahill in the 35th minute, but he was picking the ball out of his net again one minute later.

A left-wing cross from Juninho was flicked on at the near post by Brandon Barklage, allowing Olave to redirect the ball into the net from six yards for his third goal of the year.

Olave nearly added to his total in the second half but volleyed the ball wide from a tight angle, while New York goalkeeper Luis Robles was finally called into action in the 72nd.

Robles first saved a deflected free kick from Lionard Pajoy before recovering to keep out the rebound attempt of Carlos Ruiz.

It was the best chance United would get, and Henry nearly doubled his total in the 81st with a low shot that struck the post.
