Bruin's brace powers Dynamo past D.C. United
May 9, 2013 - 1:09 AM Washington, DC (Sports Network) - Will Bruin scored on each side of the break on Wednesday as the Houston Dynamo rolled to a comfortable 4-0 victory over D.C. United at RFK Stadium. While Houston has been unbeatable at home this season, they have struggled on the road and D.C. United proved to be all the Dynamo needed to shake their road woes as Bruin and Giles Barnes made sure Houston took three points.
Houston dominated play right from the outset and opened the scoring in the 16th minute as Bruin leaked through the United backline via a nice pass from Boniek Garcia and chipped it past an out of position Bill Hamid for the early advantage.
The visitors made it 2-0 in the 28th minute when Hamid sent a poor clearance straight to Bruin, who slid it over to an unmarked Barnes for the easy tap-in and two-goal advantage at the break.
After the interval D.C. United had the better of the play and their first great chance came in the 50th minute via a corner kick, but Raphael's header flew over the bar.
United appeared to score several minutes later when Dwayne De Rosario got to a loose ball in the box and fired it on goal, but Dynamo defender Cory Ashe made a sliding block to keep it out of the net.
Bruin scored his second of the night 12 minutes from time off a corner kick when a headed pass from Brian Ching fell to his feet and he fought off some obstruction in the box and ripped it home.
Driver capped the rout for Houston two minutes from time with his second goal in as many games as the Dynamo closed it out for three points.
