Sounders, FCD lock horns at CenturyLink

May 17, 2013 - 8:32 PM Seattle, WA (Sports Network) - The Seattle Sounders will aim to extend their unbeaten streak in league play to six consecutive matches when the Rave Green host FC Dallas at CenturyLink Field.

The Sounders are 3-0-2 in their last five and enter Saturday's Western Conference tilt coming off their best performance of the season in a 4-0 thrashing of the San Jose Earthquakes at home.

The Sounders opened the scoring through Seattle native Lamar Neagle in the 28th minute and Mauro Rosales made it 2-0 to Seattle in first-half stoppage time with a brilliantly-struck free kick.

Neagle collected his second of the day in the 54th minute when he brought down a long pass from Servando Carrasco on the right side of the box and ripped it past San Jose goalkeeper Jon Busch to make it 3-0.

Sounders Designated Player Obafemi Martins scored his second goal in a Seattle kit in stoppage time to give the hosts their first win on home soil this season.

"It's been a while for us. I was proud of what our team did on the field," Sounders FC head coach Sigi Schmid said. "As a coach, you're never completely happy. I think from a standpoint of scoring goals, creating chances and also playing good defense, in terms of league, this was probably our most complete game."

For Neagle, it was his second-career multiple-goal game and his first since he bagged a hat trick on Aug. 27, 2011 vs. Columbus in his first stint with the club.

"He's finding his confidence," said Schmid. "He's always been. I've said it before, he's one of those guys that's a gamer. Sometimes at practice, you sort of scratch your head and you say, 'What's going on?' But then once he gets the opportunity in the games and he performs well, it's his game performances that'll keep getting him on the field."

FC Dallas, meanwhile, come into Saturday's match riding a lengthy unbeaten run of their own, which stands at nine straight without a loss after the league leaders handled struggling D.C. United, 2-1, last weekend at FC Dallas Stadium.

FCD took the lead after just 11 minutes when Eric Hassli, who got his first start up top next to Blas Perez, had time to find Jackson all alone on the left side of the box, and he blasted a high, hard shot past United goalkeeper Joe Willis, but United pulled level just before the halftime whistle as the club used a quick restart to their advantage and Dwayne De Rosario beat Chris Seitz low to the right corner.

"You've got two very intelligent players, two very skillful players and two very good finishers, so I think they complement each other," said FC Dallas head coach Schellas Hyndman. "The thing is, everything you do, you have to be prepared to give something up. So if the two of them are out on the field together, then you have to give something up and normally you'd give something up in the midfield."

In nine all-time meetings between the clubs, Seattle holds a 4-1-4 advantage and a 2-0-1 mark against FC Dallas in three meetings last season.
