Cascio leaves it late as Rapids stun Impact

Jun 30, 2013 - 1:20 AM Montreal, QC (Sports Network) - Tony Cascio netted the deciding goal in stoppage time on Saturday as the Colorado Rapids edged the Montreal Impact, 4-3, in a wild affair at Saputo Stadium.

The Rapids opened the scoring in the 24th minute when Dillon Powers lofted a well-placed ball into the penalty area and Atiba Harris nodded it into the lower right corner for his fifth goal of the season.

But the Impact equalized in 38th minute when defender Hassoun Camara collected a poorly-cleared ball in the Colorado penalty area and powered it home from close range.

Three minutes before the break, the hosts grabbed the lead through Daniele Paponi's first goal of the season, but again the Rapids made it 2-2 in the 59th minute as Nate Sturgis sent a low cross into the box and Powers ripped it home on the turn.

The hosts grabbed the lead again in the 72nd minute when captain Davy Arnaud raced to the end line to keep the ball in play and centered it for Paponi to fire home.

Five minutes later, the resilient Rapids equalized again when Deshorn Brown got on the end of a cross from Chris Klute and smashed it in behind Impact goalkeeper Troy Perkins.

In stoppage time, however, it was the Rapids that shocked the home crowd as Tony Cascio ripped a shot on goal that took a deflection off two Impact defenders and beat Perkins to the near post.

The result sees the Impact drop three points on home soil for the first time this season, while the Rapids put an end to a four-match winless run.
