Soto's late goal gives Real Salt Lake 1-1 tie with Chivas USA

Oct 16, 2006 - 1:50 AM CARSON, California (Ticker) -- Jafet Soto scored at the 89-minute mark to lift Real Salt Lake a 1-1 tie with Chivas USA.

Soto beat Chivas USA goalkeeper Brad Guzan off a setup from Chris Klein and Carey Talley to forge the deadlock.

Chivas USA (10-9-13) took a 1-0 lead at the 20-minute mark with Brent Whitfield unassisted tally that got by goalkeeper Scott Garlick.

Although both clubs managed four shots on goal, Real Salt Lake (10-13-9) had a 15-11 edge in overall shots.

Chivas remains in third place in the Western Division, two points ahead of the Colorado Rapids.
