Cardiff sign Uruguay youngster
Aug 31, 2013 - 11:44 AM Premier League new-boys Cardiff City signed Uruguay Under-20 defender Maximiliano Amondarain from CA Progreso on Friday.Amondarain, 20, had a spell on trial with the Bluebirds during the pre-season and impressed manager Malky Mackay enough to secure a four-year contract.
A statement on the Cardiff website read: "Cardiff City Football Club is pleased to announce the signing of Uruguayan U20 international, Maximiliano Amondarain."
The centre-half was part of the Uruguay Under-20 squad that finished runners-up to France in the World Cup in Turkey.
In a busy summer for Mackay, who led Cardiff to promotion as Championship winners last season, Amondarain becomes the club's sixth signing, following on from Andreas Cornelius, John Brayford, Simon Moore, Steven Caulker and Gary Medel.
