Ghanaian defender Akaminko out of WC14
Jun 2, 2014 - 12:29 AM Ghanaian central defender Jerry Akaminko will miss the World Cup finals after breaking his left ankle during Saturday's friendly with the Netherlands.The 26-year-old, who plays his club football for Eskisehirspor in Turkey, broke his ankle in the third minute of time added on in the match in Rotterdam which Ghana lost 1-0.
Akaminko is due to be sidelined for at least three months.
Ghana, quarter-finalists in the 2010 World Cup, have been drawn in a tough Group G along with one of the tournament favourites Germany, Cristiano Ronaldo-led Portugal and the United States.
