Galindo scores twice as Chivas crush Red Bulls

Sep 10, 2007 - 2:16 AM CARSON, California (Ticker) -- Maykel Galindo provided all the offense Chivas USA needed Sunday.

Galindo scored two goals as Chivas USA stretched its undefeated streak to five games with a 3-0 victory over the New York Red Bulls.

Galindo gave Chivas (12-6-4) an early 1-0 edge with a goal in the fourth minute. Sacha Kljestan received a cross from Ante Razov and found Gallindo, who blasted a right-footed shot into the open net from six yards out.

Galindo struck again the the 56th minute to extend Chivas advantage to 2-0 when he blasted a shot past Red Bulls goalkeeper Ronald Waterreus, who got a hand on the ball but it still found its way into the goal.

Ante Razov added an insurance goal - his eight of the year - in the 70th minute on a penalty kick, giving the Chivas a 3-0 lead. New York defender Jeff Parke fouled Laurent Merlin to set up the penalty kick.

Chivas has posted a 4-0-1 record over its current unbeaten streak, collecting shutouts in all four victories.

Chivas goalkeeper Brad Guzan made three saves to record his 10th shutout of the season and 17th career.

The Red Bulls (11-10-3) have lost three of their last four contests and remain in third place of the Eastern Conference standings.
